• fabric: 2 fat quarters of Essex Yarn Dyed linen blend: Nautical and Charcoal
• marking tools: 1 Clover white marking pen (for dark fabrics) and 1 in blue (for light fabrics). We tested a bunch of pens and like these the best. They mark smoothly, don’t drag on the fabric, show up well, and erase cleanly with water.
• erasing tool: Sewline Aqua Eraser. Fill it with water and the thin tip precisely erases markings. 
• needles: Tulip Sashiko Needles – Long – Assorted Sizes. Set of 6 needles brilliantly packaged in a delightful little vial with a cork top.
• thimble: Clover Adjustable Ring Thimble with Plate. This is the coin-style thimble native to the sashiko technique.
• white thread: 1 large skein of Olympus Sashiko thread
• colored thread: 6 spools of Hidamari Sashiko thread in a rainbow of colors: Lemon, Cantaloupe, Peony, Lavender, Caribbean Sea, and Catnip. The book author uses 6 colored threads throughout the book, and these work nicely.

• cutting mat: Miracle Mat – 9×12 inches. A double-sided self-healing cutting mat with gridlines on the front and solid color on the back. Having a solid back is a fantastic for those who want to focus solely on the ruler gridlines while marking/cutting. And it’s perfectly sized for on-the-go!
